Here are some photos I took at the Occupy Vancouver March on October 15, 2011.
The day was sunny and the mood overwhelming positive despite the seriousness of social, political, cultural and environmental issues.
This week’s media coverage has been dominated by images of disassembling camps and news about injunction orders. However, Occupy doesn’t end when tents are dismantled from public spaces. The Occupy Movement will take multiple shapes in future days, months and years. They/we have brought issues of wealth distribution and social justice into the mainstream. What I find most remarkable is how the movement has connected people in a way that singular issues have always kept people divided. Rather than being fragmented by various identity politics, the 99 % transcends strict categories and unites people through a desire to make change. It unites people through love. Loving with reckless abandon.
